Dare To Be Powerful
Dare To Be Powerful: Renegotiating Gender Stereotypes was a one day women and girls leadership summit that facilitated discussions about leadership, body image, beauty, media, gender inequity, women in government, and the culture of sexual objectification of women's body in media. The summit included a screening of the documentary Miss Representation. Miss Representation draws back a curtain to reveal a glaring reality we live with every day but fail to see – how the media’s limited and often disparaging portrayals of women and girls makes it difficult for women to feel powerful and achieve leadership positions. This event included fun interactive break-out sessions, panel discussions, and audience feedback. Participants had in-depth conversations about gender stereotypes and how we as women could take control of the narratives.
